Homicide arrest

Charges of second degree murder are pending against one person, in relation to a homicide that took place in early 2012.

On Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, 911 was called after a man was seen laying on the ground in front of a residence in the 2100 block of 16 Street S.W.          

He was transported to hospital in serious, life-threatening condition.

On Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, he died in hospital.

The deceased was identified as Gatleak THOR METKURJOCK, 20, of Calgary. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.

This is not believed to have been a random incident.

Today, Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, officers arrested a 19-year-old man without incident.

The accused was under 18 at the time of the incident, and will not be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Further charges are anticipated.
