Highwood homicide update

The death of a man whose body was found in a northwest alley last weekend has been declared a homicide.

At approximately 9 a.m., on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, police were called to reports of a body that had been located in an alleyway in the 400 block of Hendon Drive N.W.

Although the victim had previous ties to organized crime, it is not believed his death is connected to any of the recent violence in Calgary. However, investigators are looking into whether drugs may have played a role.

An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified the man as Colin Ernest MUNROE, 37, of Calgary. He died as a result of a shooting.

This is Calgary’s 30th homicide of 2015.
