High Risk Offender Released

In the interest of public safety, the Calgary Police Service is issuing the following public information and warning in regards to the release of an inmate.

Alan Neil BATHGATE, 55, was released into the Calgary area today, Wednesday, February 13, 2013, after having served a 3 year 5 month federal prison sentence. BATHGATE has a history of sexual assault, sexual interference and performing indecent acts in public against female children and adults. He will now be monitored by the Calgary Police Service High Risk Offender Program on a Recognizance Order pending a Section 810.2 Hearing.

BATHGATE has a history of committing offences in the Alberta communities of Calgary, Lethbridge, Edmonton, Wetaskiwin and Innisfail and in Regina, SK.

BATHGATE is described as Caucasian, 5’6” tall, approximately 128 lbs. with grey hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion.

The Calgary Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of BATHGATE.

Members of the public are advised that the intent of the process is to enable members of the public to take suitable precautionary measures and not to embark on any form of vigilante action.
