Graffiti Charges

As the result of an investigation into graffiti vandalism in northwest Calgary, the Joint Graffiti Investigative Team has charged one person in relation to 29 incidents.

On Wednesday, March 26, 2014, a 17-year-old female was arrested and charged with 32 counts of mischief under $5,000.

She cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The charges relate to graffiti vandalism of public and private property, including businesses, transit shelters and benches, sound walls, light posts and utility boxes.

The targeted areas were in the communities of Ranchlands, Edgemont, Dalhousie and Crowfoot.

The Joint Graffiti Investigative Team is a multi-agency group of officers from the Calgary Police Service, The City of Calgary Animal & Bylaw Services and Calgary Transit Public Safety & Enforcement, that focuses on investigating graffiti vandalism and graffiti offenders in Calgary.
