Free the Fuzz 10th Anniversary

The 10th annual Free the Fuzz fundraiser will be held simultaneously at two Calgary Walmart locations this week.

From Thursday, June 13 to Sunday, June 16, 2013, the Alberta Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) and Walmart Canada will team-up to hold a major fundraising event in support of Special Olympics Alberta.

This year’s participants are from the Calgary Police Service, Corrections Alberta and the Alberta Sheriffs. Members of each agency will stay atop the Walmart locations at 1110 57 Ave. N.E., as well as at 5111 Northland Dr. N.W., until Sunday at 4 p.m.

The groups will be hoisted to the top of both buildings at 9:45 a.m., this morning.

Members of the public are encouraged to help to Free the Fuzz and support the Special Olympics by stopping by either location to make a donation, or by purchasing a hotdog or pop at the weekend event.

On Saturday, June15, 2013, between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., law enforcement members will also offer the public a chance to see inside their police vehicles and chat with local officers about their jobs.

Stop by and meet Special Olympics athletes, hear their stories.

Purchase a LETR T-shirt, water bottle or other merchandise, with all proceeds going to Special Olympics.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Torch Run is a grassroots organization made up of law enforcement officers dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the Special Olympics. Special Olympics Alberta provides individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in sport.
