Fatal collision investigation concluded

The Calgary Police Service has concluded an investigation into a fatal hit and run that took place on Monday, July 7, 2014.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. a vehicle was traveling westbound on 16 Avenue, exiting onto the Barlow Trail South off ramp, when it struck a pedestrian before swerving onto the grass median to the left of the off ramp. It then returned onto westbound 16 Avenue, driving away from the scene.

The pedestrian, Eliah McEdwards, 20, of Calgary, received a fatal head injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An investigation identified the driver as a 37-year-old male from Calgary who has since passed away. This investigation is now closed.
