Fatal Collision - 36 Street X 12 Avenue NE

On Saturday, December 19, 2015 at approximately 4:20 PM hours, a fatal motor vehicle collision occurred in the intersection of 36 Street and 12 Avenue N.E.

A 2003 Ford Focus, operated by a 73 year old male, was travelling northbound on 36 Street approaching the intersection with 12 Avenue N.E.  The Focus attempted to turn westbound onto 12 Avenue N.E. and was struck by a northbound C-Train.  The C-Train struck the driver’s side of the Focus.  The C-train pushed the Focus approximately 55 metres north before both vehicles came to rest.

The driver of the Focus succumbed to his injuries upon his arrival at Foothills Medical Centre.

The 71 year old female passenger of the Focus was transported to Foothills Hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.

The 48 year old male operator of the C-Train did not receive any injuries as a result of this collision.
