Drug charges

The Calgary Police Service has charged three people following an investigation by the Guns and Gangs Unit.

On Thursday, May 23, 2013, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving a residence believed to be a drug storage location. The driver was arrested and found to be in possession of 228 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of $2,280 and $955 cash.

Phuc Di LY, 55, is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.

Immediately following the traffic stop, a search warrant was executed in the 100 block of Hampstead Rise N.W. The search led to the seizure of 21.9 kilograms of marijuana packaged for distribution, with an estimated street value of $219,000 and $14,600 cash.

Two adults from the residence were arrested and charged.

Si Tan NGUYEN, 42 and Phuong Quoc Hoang LE, 32, of Calgary, are each charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.
