Cycle for a Cause Spins through Market Mall to Benefit Local Special Olympics Athletes

On Saturday, May 2, 2015, law enforcement from the Calgary area will join forces to Cycle for a Cause. Cyclists will participate in a stationary relay at Market Mall (3625 Shaganappi Trail NW) from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., to show their support of the athletes of Special Olympics.

The provincial fundraising and awareness event, Cycle for a Cause, is a signature event of the Alberta Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise funds for Special Olympics so they can continue to train in year-round sports activities. Officers involved in the Cycle represent various agencies including Calgary Police Service, Alberta Sheriffs, and Calgary Transit Public Safety and Enforcement.

The Calgary Cycle for a Cause is part of a provincial series which has collectively raised over $7,000 so far this season and over $13,000 in 2014. Here in Calgary, so far a record breaking 70 cyclists are estimated to participate this year with forecasts of achieving record breaking fundraising dollars as well.

Cyclists who want to participate in this event can visit the web site at www.albertatorchrun.ca for more information and can register online. The minimum donation to participate in the Cycle for a Cause is $500 per team.

Members of the public are encouraged to come down and show their support at Market Mall on May 2.
