Crime Stoppers Re-enactment – Carjacking

A Crime Stoppers re-enactment will take place today, Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 10 a.m., to seek assistance from anyone with information about a carjacking earlier this month.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, a 72-year-old woman was approaching her vehicle parked in front of the Staples at 565 36 St. N.E., when an unknown man pushed her to the ground.

The man took the victim’s keys and purse, entered her vehicle, and backed up. A witness pulled her away, preventing her from potentially being hit by the car. The culprit drove the vehicle east towards 36 Street, and fled the area.

The woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries.     

The suspect is described as possibly being of Middle Eastern descent, 20 to 30 years old, with clean-cut, dark hair and a slim build. He was wearing a brown or dark-coloured bomber jacket, jeans and sunglasses.

The vehicle description has partially changed from what was originally released. It is described as a 2007, gold-coloured Toyota Corolla, license plate MWU990. The car has several Calgary Stampeders stickers on the back.

Investigators are releasing composite sketches of the offender in the case. The composites are available on the City of Calgary Newsroom.
