CPS holds open testing sessions

The Calgary Police Service is holding open recruit testing sessions in addition to their regular monthly information sessions.

In order to make the officer application process as accessible as possible, anyone interested in applying to be a CPS officer can now take the two required written tests prior to submitting a formal application.

Previously, those interested in becoming a CPS officer needed to submit their entire application before taking the Alberta Communication Test and Alberta Police Cognitive Ability Test.

“We know that people don’t always want to jump into the recruit application process right away,” says Acting Staff Sgt. Jennifer Lessard of the CPS Recruiting Unit. “Information and open testing sessions give people the opportunity to get more details and even take the written tests before deciding whether they want to apply.”

While not mandatory, it is recommended that potential applicants attend one of the monthly information sessions prior to writing the test.

Information sessions are generally held one Thursday a month, at 6:30 p.m., in the Atrium of the Westwinds Campus West Building. The next session is scheduled for Thursday, March 21, 2013.

The open testing sessions are scheduled for one Saturday per month, from March to June. The next testing sessions are on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Pre-registration is required, online at www.calgarypolice.ca, or by calling 1-866-277-4473 or 403-428-8483.
