CORRECTED RELEASE: Charges laid in infant homicide

Please note corrections to the cause of death and court date in the following release. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man in relation to a 2007 homicide.

At approximately 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, police were called to an address in the 400 block of Ranchlands Grove N.W., to reports of a four-month-old girl in medical distress.

She was transported to a local hospital but she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, March 7, 2007.

An autopsy later determined that the girl, Honey JERRY, died as a result of cranial trauma.

Following a thorough investigation, and consultation with the Crown, police are now in a position to lay charges against the biological father of the child.

Kinsey JERRY, 27, Siksika AB, was arrested on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, and charged with one count of manslaughter. He has been remanded into custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for this morning, Friday, April 12, 2013.

The Calgary Police Service would like to thank the RCMP for their assistance with the arrest of JERRY.
