Cocaine Trafficking Investigation

The Calgary Police Service Drug Unit has charged a man following a month-long investigation into cocaine trafficking.

On Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, the police received information from a member of the public about a potential drug trafficker. Following a number of investigative avenues, members were able to identify an individual believed connected to the investigation.

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, the man was taken into custody from his vehicle in northeast Calgary. A subsequent search of the vehicle located:

  • $3,000 cash
  • 4.3 grams of cocaine
  • 18.7 grams of marijuana
  • 6.6 grams of cannabis oil
  • 50 mgs of codeine
  • Multiple cell phones

As a result of this investigation, Qammar SHAUKAT, 26, has been charged with one count of trafficking cocaine, two counts of proceeds of crime and four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. SHAUKAT will next appear in court on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015.
