Charges laid in serious injury collision
One man has been charged in a serious injury collision on New Year’s Day.
At approximately 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, a 2010 Dodge Ram was travelling southbound in the 9600 block of Metis Tr. N.E. when it crossed the centre line, side swiping a 2013 Mazda A3I with two occupants. The Dodge Ram then continued southbound colliding with a 2011 BMW 328XI with two occupants. The Dodge Ram was then struck by a 2011 Buick Enclave traveling northbound on Metis Trail, with four passengers.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the BMW, a 20-year-old man, is in critical life-threatening condition. The passenger from the same vehicle, an 18-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries.
Although other occupants were taken to hospital as a pre-cautionary measure, no one else involved in the collision received any injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, Kulwinder Singh CHOHAN, 36, of Calgary, has been charged with impaired driving, impaired driving over 0.08 and impaired driving causing injury.
