Charges laid in fatal stabbing

One man has been charged, and charges are anticipated against another man, in relation to an incident that occurred early yesterday morning.

On Saturday, March 8, 2014, at approximately 12:10 a.m., emergency personnel were called to a residence in the 11400 block of Braniff Green S.W. after reports of a disturbance at a house party. 

Two teenage males were found suffering from stab wounds and were transported by EMS to a local hospital. One of the victims was declared deceased upon arrival.  

The other victim was treated for his injuries.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, March 10, 2014. The identity of the deceased victim will not be officially released until that is complete. 

Investigators interviewed over 80 people, while the crime scene was processed and searched. 

On Saturday, March 8, 2014, one man was arrested without incident and later charged. 

Roland SMITH, 18, of Calgary, has been charged with one count each of second degree murder and attempted murder. 

A 19-year-old man was arrested this evening, Sunday, March 9, 2014, without incident. Charges are anticipated, and more information will be released as soon as it is available.
