Charges Laid in Clandestine Drug Lab Investigation

An investigation by the District 4 Operations Team led to the discovery of a suspected clandestine drug manufacturing lab and charges against three individuals.

At approximately 11 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, a warrant was executed in the 100 block of New Brighton Circle S.E., where chemicals and a pill press were located in a front attached garage. The residence was evacuated and the ALERT Green Team and the RCMP Clandestine Lab Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) Team were called in to search and investigate.  

The following items were seized from the residence:

  • Approximately $10,000 cash
  • Ammunition
  • 80.9 grams of marijuana
  • 5, 5 mg tabs of oxycodone
  • Airsoft pistol
  • Body armour
  • Silencers
  • Bear spray
  • Digital scale
  • Money counter

The Health Canada laboratory analysis of the unidentified chemicals found in the garage is still in progress.

As a result of this investigation, Richard CLOW, 27, of Calgary, has been charged with proceeds of crime, possession of ammunition contrary to an order, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited device. He will next appear in court on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015.

The investigation also led the District 4 Operations Team to a residence in the 0-100 block of Evansford Circle N.W., where a search warrant was executed at approximately 10 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015.

The following items were seized from the residence:

  • Approximately $12,000
  • 1.019 kg of marijuana
  • 90.7 grams of cocaine
  • Machete
  • Brass knuckles
  • Scales

Two people were charged as a result.

Nathaniel WILLIAMS, 25, of Calgary, has been charged with proceeds of crime, possession of a prohibited device, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of trafficking a controlled substance. WILLIAMS appeared in court on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015.

Shantelle THOMPSON, 24, of Calgary, has been charged with proceeds of crime, and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. She will next appear in court on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015.
