Charges laid – Calgary’s fifth homicide of 2013

The Calgary Police Service has charged one man in relation to Calgary’s fifth homicide of 2013.
 
At approximately 6:30 a.m., on Sunday, March 17, 2013, police responded to an altercation near 4 Street S.E. and Dermot Baldwin Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious man suffering from stab wounds. John Gordon WALMSLEY, 42, of Calgary, was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition and later died from his injuries.
 
Following an investigation by the CPS Homicide Unit, one individual was arrested in Edmonton on Friday, March 22, 2013. Investigators would like to thank the Edmonton Police Service for their assistance.
 
Resulting from this arrest, a 16-year-old male from Calgary, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder. He appeared in court in Calgary earlier today, Monday, March 25, 2013.
