Calgary Police Service to hold recruiting drive in Atlantic Canada

East Coast recruiting drive at the Atlantic Police Academy – Feb. 23 to 25, 2013

Anyone who is interested in learning more about becoming a Calgary Police Service (CPS) officer is invited to attend a recruiting drive at the Atlantic Police Academy (Holland College). Members of the CPS Recruiting Unit will be there from Saturday Feb. 23 to Monday, Feb. 25, 2013.

General information sessions will be held and potential applicants can book a private session with a CPS recruiter, to ask questions and get more information.

Testing sessions will be offered for the Alberta Communication Test and Alberta Police Cognitive Ability Test. Normally potential recruits need to officially apply in order to take these tests, but this recruiting drive gives people the opportunity to take the tests prior to applying.

A workshop will also teach potential applicants the proper interview techniques used during the application process.

“We know that people don’t always want to jump into the recruit application process right away,” says Acting Staff Sgt. Jennifer Lessard of the CPS Recruiting Unit. “This recruiting drive gives people the opportunity to get more information and even take the written tests before deciding whether they want to apply.”

Working with citizens and partner agencies, CPS officers come from all walks of life.
