Calgary Police Service dog retires

After eight years behind the badge, Police Service Dog Pix is retiring from the Calgary Police Service.

Pix joined the Service as an eight-week-old puppy in 2004 and started his intense training in 2006.

Since then, Pix has been deployed over 1,000 times and has either assisted or been primarily responsible for the arrest of hundreds of offenders.

From tackling gun-toting bad guys to keeping hold of one suspect while another attacked him with a golf club, Pix has gone above and beyond to help keep Calgary safe.

After working tirelessly with his partner Const. Jim Gourley, it’s time for Pix to put up his paws and retire. His last day in Service is today.
