Calgary Police Service Class 202 Recruit Graduation

A former pastor, paramedic, salesman and a homicide detective in his native Romania are just some of the newest members of the Calgary Police Service receiving their badge this afternoon.

Recruit Class #202 will be on display today, Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at a special ceremony at Mewata Armoury, 801 11 St. S.W. The event begins at 1 p.m.

The diverse group of 23 graduates has successfully completed five months of intense training and will now hit the streets as the Service’s newest constables.

Following graduation, the CPS members will be assigned to work with Police Training Officers for the final 15-week phase of their basic learning.

The recruits will run through a series of drills and will be addressed by Chief Rick Hanson, before receiving their badges. Seven individual awards will also be presented to members of the graduating class.
