Calgary Police Foundation Surpasses Fundraising Goal

Released on behalf of the Calgary Police Foundation

Two years after it first launched, the Calgary Police Foundation is celebrating surpassing the goal to raise $10-million with the unveiling of a new donor wall at police headquarters.

Launched in October 2012, CPF focused on community partnerships in support of the Calgary Police Service to deliver education, early intervention and prevention programs that fall outside the regular police service budget – to reduce youth victimization and criminal activity.

To date, the Foundation has raised nearly $12.5-million for youth early intervention and prevention programs. Today, Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, Foundation Chair Brian Ferguson will be joined by Mayor Naheed Nenshi and Chief Rick Hanson to honour the founding supporters who have made it possible.

A donor wall within the main lobby of police headquarters acknowledges the donors who have stepped forward, as well as the programs they support.

“On behalf of the CPF Board, I want to express our gratitude for the generous support of Calgary's corporate community and so many generous founding families which have made possible many programs focused on early intervention, prevention and education for our city's youth,” says Foundation Chair Brian Ferguson. “This amazing support has enabled us to invest to make our community safer."

Programs supported thus far by CPF include the Calgary Police Service’s Multi Agency School Support Team, Cadet Corps, Power Play, the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre, YouthLink Calgary, Youth At Risk Development program and the Integrated School Support Project. These programs would not be possible without lead contributions from our million-dollar supporters:

  • Canadian Natural Resources Limited
  • Cenovus Energy Inc.
  • Enbridge Inc.
  • Encana Corporation
  • MEG Energy
  • Talisman Energy Inc.

Details of a media availability during the unveiling of the donor wall will follow in a separate media advisory.
