Calgary Police Commission selects executive search experts to help recruit new Chief

The Calgary Police Commission today announced the results of a competition to select an executive search firm that will help identify the strongest candidates in the search for Calgary’s new Chief of Police.

Following a competitive process that considered multiple proposals, Boyden Global Executive Search, a leading executive search firm, has been selected as the highest evaluated proponent. “After a careful review, we determined that Boyden was best suited to assist the Commission in recruiting the best possible Chief to meet Calgary’s needs,” said Rodney Fong, Chair of the Commission.

“As part of the recruitment process we anticipate engaging with the public and consulting with key stakeholders to ensure we find a candidate with the skills and traits that reflect the preferences and priorities of the community. Boyden’s expertise in this area will assist us in the consultation process and ensure that we have broad community engagement.”

Boyden has experience recruiting senior leaders in the public sector, including individuals who have done exceptional work for Calgary.

The Commission’s search committee will work closely with Boyden to draft a position profile that will incorporate input provided during community and stakeholder consultation meeting. Additional details about the process will be determined in consultation between the Commission and Boyden. The Commission hopes to have new a Chief of Police in place by late fall 2015.

The total costs associated with recruiting for this position will be calculated once the process is complete.
