Cadet Corps Open House

Do any of the youth in your life dream of becoming a police officer one day? Or are you looking for a program for your child that offers fun activities while improving skills that will benefit them in any career?

The Calgary Police Service Cadet Corps will host an open house tonight, Thursday, March 28, 2013, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., for parents or youth interested in learning more about the program. This will take place at the CPS Headquarters, Westwinds Campus, located at 5111 – 47 Street N.E.

This free program is open to youth aged 12 to 18, and focuses program activities on policing, while offering opportunities to develop leadership, gain education through experience, enhance physical fitness and set the stage for camaraderie, positive social interaction and achievement.

The Cadet Corps runs from September to May, however registration for the 2013/2014 season closes May 31, 2013.

Activities Cadets get to participate in include:

Guided fitness training
Marksmanship training
First aid training
Outdoor survival training
Weekend camps
Community events and parades

Curriculum also includes instruction on dress and deportment, citizenship, communication, conflict resolution, law, leadership and public speaking.
