Shooting - seeking public assistance

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance in locating a man responsible for a shooting that occurred yesterday.

At approximately 5 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, a man entered a barber shop located in the 5100 block of 20 Avenue S.E. He engaged a customer in a quick conversation before pulling a gun and shooting him.

Despite attempts by CPS members to conduct CPR, the man was declared deceased at the scene.

After the shooting, it is believed the suspect got into a silver SUV across the street and fled the scene.

Established protocols were put into place immediately following the shooting and numerous police resources were involved in the response in an attempt to locate the suspect. However, at this time he remains outstanding.

Numerous witnesses from the scene have been interviewed. The area was busy at the time, however, it is fortunate that no innocent bystanders were physically injured during the shooting.

An autopsy on the victim is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 16, 2015. His identity will not be released until the autopsy has been completed.

Police believe this was a targeted attack linked to an ongoing dispute between gangs connected to the drug trade. The victim was known to police.

Following the shooting, police engaged in suppression activities in an attempt to reduce further retaliatory offences.
