Attempted Child Abduction – Composite Sketch

The Calgary Police Service is releasing a composite sketch of a man believed to be involved in the attempted abduction of a child in Varsity last week.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, a child was approached by an unknown male while inside a convenience store located at 4615 Valiant Drive N.W.

During the interaction, the 12-year-old victim was verbally threatened by the suspect, but managed to escape. The victim ran to a nearby school and reported the incident to police.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, between 5’8” and 5’11” tall. He was described as having a round face with a moustache or goatee, short, balding grey hair, and brown eyes. He was wearing a brown jacket, dark pants and may have smelled of campfire and alcohol. It is possible he was driving an older model 90s, two-door, grey sedan with no licence plate.

Although a clear CCTV image of the suspect has not been found, a composite sketch is being released in hopes the public may be able to assist in identifying the individual involved.

Anyone who may have information about the identity of the man is asked to contact the non-emergency number at 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
