Arson Investigation Continues
The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate a fire that was deliberately set at a Calgary school last October.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at approximately 4 a.m., the Calgary Fire Department responded to alarm bells at Willow Park School, located at 343 Willow Park Drive, S.E.
When crews arrived, they discovered the building full of smoke and a fully-involved fire in one of the classrooms. Firefighters put out the fire and worked to clear smoke from the building.
Investigators determined this fire was an arson.
The fire caused millions of dollars of damage, destroyed personal property, and affected hundreds of families as well as the staff, through the displacement of classes.
The investigation is progressing, as officers work to follow-up leads and identify potential suspects.
Investigators believe there are people with information who have not come forward yet.
