2013 Chief's Awards Gala

The Calgary Police Service Chief’s Awards Gala 2013 will take place tonight, Wednesday, May 8, 2013, to honour people who have gone to extraordinary measures to save lives and better our community.

Chief Rick Hanson will be presenting awards to 73 Calgarians (28 citizens and 45 CPS sworn members) at the Gala.

Stories range from motorists stopping to provide life-saving first aid to injured drivers, to citizens who aided in the arrest of offenders fleeing officers. All of the award recipients have gone above and beyond to assist those in need and make Calgary a stronger community.

There is a special addition to this year’s Chief’s Awards Gala. Twelve of Calgary’s leading businesses, who made substantial contributions to the newly created Calgary Police Foundation will be acknowledged at the event:

Their support makes programs possible that help reduce victimization and involvement in criminal activity through education, prevention and early intervention. Since launching late last year, the Foundation has raised more than $9 million.
