Two Homes Damaged in North West Fire

Shortly before 2:00 this morning, the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 4000 block of Norquay Drive NW for reports of a building fire.  Upon arrival fire crews found a shed, between two homes, fully engulfed in flames.  The fire had spread from the shed to two neighbouring homes, extending up the soffits and into the attics of each house. The first arriving Fire Captain immediately called for additional resources then assigned crews to aggressively attack the fire.  Fire crews quickly knocked down the fire on the exterior of homes then went inside to address the attic fires. Once inside, crews of firefighters located and extinguished the hidden fires. The lone male occupant of one of the homes suffered minor burns, to his hand, trying to extinguish the fire.  He was treated by EMS.  A couple, from the second home escaped without injury.  Each of the two residences involved suffered significant damage and are currently untenable. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
