ECCO Landfill Fire Update- Sept 22

Compaction and Site Assessment Work Continues at ECCO Landfill Fire

Crews continue work at the ECCO Recycling facility in southeast Calgary. Additional dirt and clay are being brought to the site and spread across operational areas, while heavy equipment equipped with tamper attachments is being used to compact material and reduce void spaces within the pile, helping limit the movement of heat, smoke and air.

A drone will also be deployed to collect measurements and aerial imagery to support ongoing assessment and operational planning.

Residents may continue to see localized smoke or steam as work progresses. Further updates will be provided as significant operational developments occur.
