Two Alarm Fire in Valley Ridge NW.

Calgary Firefighters were called out this morning for a report of a house fire on the 0-100 block of Valley Meadows Close NW.. Crews arrived just before 08:00 to find a two story walk out style single family house with no outward sign of fire. As the crew did their size-up they quickly discovered that a fire was indead present within the structure. The home was closed tight as the occupants were found to be on vacation. The conditions within the home were ideal for a backdraft situation. Firefighters were cautious as they opened the home using ventilation tactics to eliminate the chance of a smoke explosion. As this was completed the Firefighters entered through the basement walk out doors and attacked the fire quickly bringing it under control. A search was done of the home and found to be unoccupied. A second alarm was used to provide staff to keep the fire from spreading to the nearby houses. Fire damage was confined to the house of origin and no damage to surrounding property. Investigators are now on scene to pin point the cause of the blaze.
