At approximately 2:15 this afternoon, the Calgary Fire Department was called to the 3000 block of 210th avenue S.E. to rescue a male patient in his 50s who had fallen approximately  4 to 5 metres into a concrete shaft. Fire crews, including confined space rescue specialists, descended into the shaft and used a stretcher to safely secure the patient and quickly hoist him up the ladder.  Patient care was transferred to EMS.
