Calgary Fire Department responds to Christmas day house fire.

At approximately 10:00 pm this evening, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a house fire on Bow Cr. NW. Upon arrival, the crews were met by the four occupants of the residence which had heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house. The occupants who had self rescued, informed the crews that everyone was accounted for except two cats. The crews met many obstacles including heavy volumes of smoke, heat and flames. Due to the possibility of the fire “rolling over” on the crews, a number of different tactics were utilized by Command to extinguish the fire. Although the house of origin sustained significant interior damage, there was no damage to the adjacent structures. Once the fire was brought under control, the two cats were located a little wet and scared but in good shape. The cats were returned to the owners. As a precaution two of the occupants were transported by EMS to the hospital. At the present time, crews are still on scene looking for hot spots. The investigation into the cause of the fire will commence once the scene is considered safe for the investigation
