Calgary Fire Department responds to basement fire

At 12:50 this afternoon, the Calgary Fire Department was called to the 700 block of Raynard Crescent S.E. for reports of a basement fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found signs of an extinguished fire. Three people suffering from smoke inhalation were already in the care of EMS. Fire crews learned that a neighbour had smelled smoke and entered the residence. He saw fire and started to extinguish it as well as assisting the male and female occupants out of the basement. Fire crews overhauled the basement to ensure extinguishment and a Fire Investigator is on scene to determine the exact origin and cause.
