Calgary Fire Department fights house fire in Montgomery

 

 

 

At approximately 2:20 this afternoon, Calgary fire crews responded to a house fire at the 4600 block of 21 Avenue NW. A neighbour heard strange sounds, investigated, and immediately called 911 upon seeing flames at the back of a neighbour's house, On arrival, fire crews encountered a bungalow with significant fire involvement inside and at the back of home. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and prevented spread to adjacent properties. No occupants were home at the time of the fire however two cats were found inside. Firefighters and paramedics attempted to resuscitate the cats with CPR and oxygen however they did not survive. The fire caused significant damage throughout the home, therefore the occupants will be displaced for some time. It is not known if there were working smoke alarms. A Calgary Fire Department Fire Investigator is on scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
