Vehicle found Submerged in the Bow River

Members of the Calgary Fire Department Aquatics Rescue Team on a routine river patrol today discovered an overtuned Pickup truck submerged in the Bow River south of Harvie Passage. The truck is on its roof in a fast channel of the river. A diver entered the water to investigate and found it to be empty. It did however contain a large amount of river rock and debris. It is not known at this time how long or in fact how the truck found its way to the location. Fire rescue crews will return to the site in the morning to develop a plan to remove the vehicle from the dangerous current. It is hoped that the Police will be able to identify the vehicle, where it came from and how long it may have been in the river. With the level of the river dropping new hazards are being exposed almost every day. If choosing to use the river for recreational purposes users should be alert at all times for hidden hazards. The truck is located on a portion of the river that is concidered closed at this time.
