Update: Calgary Fire Department fights two alarm fire at SE industrial building

At 5:35 this evening, the Calgary Fire Department responded to multiple 911 calls of fire on the roof of a south east industrial building. Calgary fire crews have now had the fire at 11th Street and 58th Avenue SE under control since approximately 6:30 p.m. Firefighters continue to put out hot spots on the roof and fire watch will be maintained throughout the night. Employees evacuated at the onset of the fire were allowed to safely enter the unaffected areas of the building to retrieve personal belongings in order to go home for the day. It has been confirmed that roofers were working on the building however any relationship to the cause of the fire remains under investigation. A City of Calgary Safety Codes Officer and a Senior Consulting Engineer are on site to assess the structural integrity of the roof. The effected area of the building will remain off limits until it is deemed safe for re-entry. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire.
