Two Alarm House Fire in Shawnessy
The Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire in the 100 block of Shawinigan Dr. South West. The lone female occupant called 911 after discovering fire and smoke emanating from the outside rear area of the single detached house. On arrival of the first responding fire crews, due to the extent of involvement of fire and smoke, initiated a second alarm to provide the proper resources. Fire crews immediately deployed exposure fire streams and positive pressure ventilation to protect the adjacent houses on both sides of the involved house. All three houses were evacuated safely for the duration of the incident. The houses on both sides of the sustained damage to the exterior but are considered safe and habitable. Damage to the house related to the source of ignition is very extensive. There were no injuries to report at this incident and the cause of the fire is under investigation at this moment.
