The Calgary Fire Department Responds to Whitehorn House Fire

Shortly before 1:00 pm today, the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 4100 block of Whitefield Drive NE for reports of a house fire. As they approached the scene, fire crews noticed a large volume of smoke and fire coming from the side of the home. Upon arrival, crews were met by a female occupant of the residence, who stated that she and her three children had safely evacuated. Firefighters entered the home and quickly knocked down the fire. However, the fire had also spread to the attic, challenging firefighting efforts. Responding crews were able to confine the fire to the building of origin. The home suffered significant damage and the family will be displaced until repairs are completed. There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire and an accurate estimate of fire damages are yet to be determined.
