The Calgary Fire Department Rescues Electrocuted Film Worker

At approximately 11:30 P.M. the Calgary Fire Department was dispatched to the 800 block of 24 AVE S.E. for reports of an electrocution.  Arriving crews were approached by a man who stated that two of his coworkers were trapped up on an electrical platform and that one of them may have been electrocuted.  Firefighters located and communicated with the two men on the platform advising them to stay put until Enmax technicians could de-energize the power.  Both men were conscious and alert, however one stated that he had received and electrical shock which had injured his foot. Once Enmax technicians had confirmed that the power was off, firefighters used an Aerial Ladder truck to rescue both men off the 3 story platform.  EMS assessed both men and transported one to the hospital with electrical burns.

Apparently the 3 men were part of a film crew who were working on a time-lapse video of a construction site adjacent to the platform and were unaware of the electrical hazard.   The incident did not cause any other damage and the power lines have since been reenergized.
