The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) extinguishes two non-related house fires in Northwest Calgary

At approximately 8 pm Thursday evening, the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire on Panorama Hills Way NW. Upon arrival, crews encountered smoke coming from the residence. An aggressive interior attack prevented the flames from spreading beyond the room of origin where it was contained and extinguished by firefighters. There were no injuries reported but there was extensive smoke damage. An investigation into the origin and cause is underway. Fire watch was put in place through the night.

Many of the same fire crews also responded to a second house fire on Storybook TC NW. This fire started at approximately 02:30 early Friday morning. Fire crews engaged in an aggressive interior attacking and contained the fire to the house of origin. The resident of the home is accounted for and there were no injuries reported. Crews remain on scene looking for hot spots. The investigation into the cause of the second fire will commence once the area is deemed safe. Fire watch will also be established at this second incident.

Both homes did have working smoke alarms which assisted in alerting occupants early to fire, allowing for safe evacuation and reducing the risk of injuries due to toxic smoke and a growing fire.
