SUV and Train Collide Injuring Two Men

At approximately 12:00 AM the Calgary Fire Department responded to 68 ST and Applewood Dr SE for a reported motor vehicle collision.  When Fire Crews arrived they found that a red, late model SUV and and freight train had collided, at a railway crossing, just north of Applewood DR SE.  Upon investigation firefighters found the heavily damaged SUV had two injured men trapped inside.  Utilizing specialized hydraulic tools, firefighters quickly extricated the men from the wreck then turned them over to waiting EMS personnel.  EMS treated and transported the two patients, in their forties, to the hospital.  Police and Rail investigators are currently investigating the crash.   The intersection has since been reopened to traffic.
