Small release quickly contained at chemical manufacturing site

maltese crossThe Calgary Fire Department responded to the report of a small chemical release about 7:30 p.m. at the Champion Technologies manufacturing facility located at 6040 46th Street SE. The release was quickly contained and posed no impact to the environment, community, or safety of workers or first responders.
 
About 400 liter of an emulsion breaker product were released while being loaded onto a truck at the facility around 7:30 p.m. The release was fully contained within a concrete barrier and stayed within the confines of the plant property. The leak was quickly stopped and clean-up crews were on-site to re-mediate the spill.
 
Representatives notified the appropriate regulatory agencies and fully cooperated with the responders to facilitate the clean-up process with assistance from the Calgary Fier Department. No further impact or responce actiity is required at this time.
