Kitchen Fire in Brentwood

Firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on the 3100 block of Brentwood Boulevard NW just before 6PM this evening. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the single family residence. The firefighters entered the home to find a fire in the kitchen area. It was quickly controled as crews searched the home for for possible victims, A family of 5, two adults and three children were not home at the time of the fire. Fire damage was confined to the kitchen area but heavy smoke damage was found through out the home. The family will be out of the home tonight and possibly longer as the damage is fully assessed. The cause is now under investigation but a family member believes that they may have left something on the stove.
