House Fire in Dover

At approximately 4:45 this afternoon, the Calgary Fire Department responded to multiple 911 calls for a structure fire in the 3200 block of Doverville Crescent in the southeast community of Dover. On arrival crews were met by large volumes of smoke issuing from the front of a duplex and evacuating occupants. Firefighters made entry to the occupancy and located a large fire in the kitchen area. Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control while searching the home for any occupants. The attached occupancy was evacuated by firefighters as a precaution and all occupants in both dwellings were safe and accounted for.

Damage from the fire was limited to the kitchen area of the source occupancy with significant smoke damage to the entire home, and there was no damage to the attached exposure. The seven residents of the source home will be displaced from their home due to the fire and smoke damage. There were no injuries at the scene and the cause of the fire is currently being investigated. Firefighters will be on scene for the next several hours extinguishing hot spots and assisting with investigation.

The Calgary Fire Department reminds Calgarians that working smoke alarms save lives, and to ensure that cooking appliances are not left unattended.
