Calgary Fire Department Responds to House Fire in Chinook Park

At approximately 8:30 this evening the Calgary Fire Department responded to a 911 call for a house fire in the 1100 block of 73 Ave SW. On arrival fire crews were met with smoke and flames issuing from a two story residence. Fire crews initiated a rapid interior attack and were able to locate and contain the fire to the area of origin. Two occupants of the home were able to self evacuate prior to the Calgary Fire Department arrival.

Calgary Fire Department crews, including a Fire Investigator, remain on scene to ensure there is no fire extension and to determine the cause and origin of the fire. CPS and AHS are also on scene to provide assistance. ATCO and Enmax were called to the scene to deal with the services to the home.

The Calgary Fire Department reminds all citizens of the importance of working smoke and CO alarms.
