Grass Fires Alongside Sarcee Trail
At approximately 1 p.m. this afternoon the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Bowdale Crescent North West. First arriving crews reported several fires burning adjacent to the Canadian Pacific Railway line. With the amount of fire crews encountered, additional Calgary Fire Department resources were dispatched. Due to the terrain and vegetation Calgary Fire requested Sustainable Resource Development provide aircraft support and Rockyview Fire provide additional resources. Calgary Police assisted with traffic control and evacuation of area residents. Three pets were evacuated and are in the care of Animal Bylaw services. As of four p.m. the fire is under control and one lane of north bound Sarcee trail is open.
