FULLY INVOLVED DECK FIRE THREATENS TOWNHOUSE COMPLEX IN SW CALGARY

Early this morning Fire crews responded to a house fire on Patina PA SW. First arriving apparatus found a fully involved attached deck in a townhouse complex. The flames had grown to the point where the rear of the home sustained severe damage to its exterior. Fire fighters began an aggress offensive attack on the deck fire, whilst this was occurring, other members of the Fire crew were ensuring that the occupations of both the involved home as well as adjacent townhouses were evacuated. No rescues were required as the home owners had already self evacuated. At the present time, the fire is extinguished; fire fighters are remaining on scene over hauling the townhouse looking for spot fires. Once these hot spots are extinguished, the investigation as what started the fire will begin. There were no injuries and only minimal damage to the exposures.
