Firefighters respond to Rescue along Elbow River.

Firefighters were called out this evening to assist AHS medics with a patient that fallen down the bank next to the Elbow river. The call came in just before 7:00 pm after a middle aged man had tumbled down the bank while sitting next to an area that had been under mined by the flooding of the river. The tumble stopped just short of the fast moving water. The man was loaded into a stokes stretched and carried up the bank by firefighters. His care was then turned over to the waiting medics. The Fire Department would like to reminded the public to stay back for the river banks. Even if the ground appears normal it may have been under mined by the high water and collapse without warning. The rivers remain dangerous at this time with cold temperatures and dangerous debris along their shores.
