Firefighters Rescue Woman From House Fire In Valley Ridge

 

Shortly after 11:00 this morning, 911 received two phone calls regarding a possible house fire on Valley Ridge Drive N.W. Upon arrival, fire crews confirmed a working house fire which had filled the main floor with thick black smoke. The male occupant had just returned home and was very concerned for his wife who he believed was still inside the residence. Firefighters immediately commenced a search and found the woman conscious in a downstairs bedroom with the door closed. She was quickly rescued and her care was transferred to EMS. Firefighters brought the fire under control, limiting most of the damage to the main floor. No other homes were damaged and no injuries were reported as a result of this fire. Smoke damage to the home is extensive. Calgary Police assisted and rerouting traffic along Valley Ridge Drive. The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation.
