Fire In The South East

Shortly before 11:00 pm this evening Calgary Fire Crews were dispatched to an alarm activation in the 1600block of 42avenue S.E. When crews arrived at this large shingle manufacturing faciliy they discovered a fire inside the building had activated the smoke detection system. Because of the volume of smoke and the size of the building a second alarm was requested as a precautionary measure. The fire was quickly brought under control and a thorough search revealed that the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported and traffic was not impacted during this event. The cause is currently under investigation.
